Gwen has 25 years of leadership and compliance experience in healthcare. As Impact Health’s chief compliance officer, she defines the overall compliance philosophy and strategy, overseeing all facets of the compliance and privacy programs. Her responsibilities include developing, maintaining, monitoring, and updating policies and procedures to ensure Impact Health adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. She also collaborates with the people and culture department to design and deliver compliance and privacy education programs.
Most recently, Gwen served as the director of hospital compliance at UNC Health for their owned and managed hospitals in the eastern region of North Carolina. Prior to joining UNC Health, she held the positions of chief compliance officer and chief audit executive for Mission Health System. Following the acquisition of Mission Health by HCA in February 2019, Gwen served as the division ethics and compliance officer for the North Carolina Division and successfully implemented the HCA Healthcare ethics and compliance program across Mission Health System’s eight hospitals, post-acute service lines, and provider organization.
During her tenure at Mission Health, Gwen effectively led the internal audit team through the Institute of Internal Auditors’ Quality Assurance and Improvement Program, which assesses adherence to the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics.
Gwen holds a both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from Montreat College and Western Carolina University respectively.
In her leisure time, Gwen is an avid reader with a preference for historical fiction. She and her husband love the outdoors and enjoy hiking, kayaking, and playing pickleball. They are also enthusiastic travelers, both internationally and within the United States, particularly exploring the national parks. The most challenging hike was to the summit of Mount Washburn in Yellowstone National Park, reaching an elevation of 10,219 feet.
