Gabriela Volkomer

Innovation Manager

Gabriela is excited to continue fulfilling her passion for serving her community as Impact Health’s Innovation Manager. With more than 17 years of experience in public service,  Gabriela is well-equipped to lead Impact Health’s work supporting Western North Carolina’s community health workforce.

Gabriela started her career as a bilingual advocate at the district attorney’s office in Louisville, Kentucky, where she represented domestic violence survivors. After moving to Asheville in 2008, she joined Pisgah Legal Services as a bilingual court advocate for the Mountain Violence Prevention Program. Gabriela later served as a coordinator for Success Overcoming Addiction through Recovery (SOAR), the family treatment court in Buncombe County. She also worked closely with foster care and social services.

In 2017,  Gabriela received the Allied Professional Award from the Western North Carolina Crime Victim’s Coalition. She has been honored by Hola Carolina Magazine for her work and dedication to serving Hispanic communities.

Gabriela is licensed attorney in her home state of Chihuahua, Mexico. She moved to the United States with her husband more than 20 years ago. She went on to earn her master’s degree in justice administration from the University of Louisville in Kentucky.

Gabriela lives in Asheville with her family, their two dogs, and a cat. When she isn’t supporting her community, she loves to hike, travel, and explore new parts of the world.
