Our Team

Rachel Walker

Associate Director of Programs

Prior to joining Impact Health, Rachel worked in a variety of roles that challenged her to approach community health from many different perspectives. She has worked with the Women, Infants and Children program in Colorado, serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA in Southeast Kentucky and supporting regenerative agriculture practices in Central Texas. Most recently, Rachel led the Health Team for Children’s Services at WNCSource where the primary goal was to ensure children and families across a four-county region had equitable access to health and nutrition services in and out of the classroom. She developed partnerships with child health advocates across the region to best support school readiness and led a Health Services Advisory Committee to provide community-based input to the health program.

She grew up in Ohio and began growing roots in Western North Carolina in 2020 with her husband, Jayce. She holds a BA in Nutrition from Ohio University and a Masters in Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center with a focus on Health Promotion and Education. Outside of work, she enjoys soaking in the natural beauty of the WNC region through hiking, camping and waterfall-gazing.
